The Racing Post (3 October 2015) reported that O'Shea took over the reins of Sheikh Mohammed's Australian operation 18 months ago with McDonald his number one jockey and Godolphin have increasingly identified European horses to send down under.
"It's the best team I've ever taken to a racetrack," O'Shea said. "It was a wonderful team effort led by our jockey James. Magic Hurricane has hopefully made his way into the Caulfield Cup. He is just coming right but he will have to get a penalty."
McDonald said in the article: "I play a very small role but I'm just privileged that I'm riding for one of greatest empires in the world. It's what fairytales are made of."
The five-timer also included a short-head 1-2 finish from Magic Hurricane’s stablemates, Complacent and Hauraki in the Group 3 Craven Plate over 1m2f.
"Complacent scored a fantastic win and it was great to see two Godolphin horses fighting out the finish so strongly - an outstanding performance," O'Shea said.
The other Godolphin winners for O'Shea and McDonald at Randwick were Calliope in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes, Ambience in the Listed Dulcify Quality and Exosphere in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes.
"I've never had anything remotely like that, but it's about the quality of the horses I have to train and the people around me and the facilities I operate on and I think that if most trainers had that at their disposal, they'd achieve similar results," ended O'Shea.
O’Shea uses Polytrack
Godolphin Australia has two training establishments including a private facility at Osborne Park in Agnes Banks, New South Wales, where Martin Collins installed a Polytrack gallop in May/June of this year.
Godolphin had a great start to the season in Australia with many winners trained on their Polytrack racing surface at Agnes Banks.
